Fort Chanwa Luni

Fort Chanwa Luni

A Heritage Hotel

Fort Chanwa Luni is a restored heritage property. The entire fortress is carved out of the famous red sandstone of Jodhpur.  A beautiful example of 19 Century Indian architecture, it captures the regal grandeur of a previous era. Each hotel room is individually created and furnished with authentic imperial ornaments.

The Fort is a complex of courtyards towers, water wheels, stables, passages and unexpected stairways to secret pavilions and panoramic roof tops providing a view of the village below and the Thar horizon beyond. Traditional paintings on the walls reflect the skill of master craftsmen of bygone ages.

The Fort’s courtyards are peaceful havens where guests can relax.  There is a beautiful pool where guests can cool off, a well stocked bar and evening bazaar for shopping.  Fine dinning and entertainment are combined in the Typical Village Dhani Dinner: An authentic Rajasthani dinner is served in rural style with traditional ceremony arranged before the dinner followed by entertainment and folk dances.

Fort Chanwa Luni has a variety of room sizes to suit your needs each uniquely and richly decorated.

The Fort Chanwa is the place to be for a romantic stay. Our room was beautifully decorated and spacious. We only got to spend one night here and wished we could have spent some more. Staying here offers a lovely chance to stay in a nicely renovated authentic Rajasthani fort. We would certainly opt to stay here again next time.

We stayed in many 5* hotels during our 15 day stay in India but Fort Chanwa was the one we enjoyed the best. We arrived in a village and suddenly the doors to a ‘Havali’ opened up to reveal the hotel! Immediately the hotel staff were there to take care of us.

Walking through the big cast-iron doors, we felt like we’d stepped back in time in this magnificent fort-hotel situated 25km from Jodhpur’s city centre. Restoration work has been ongoing for the past 15 years, which explains why the property is very well-maintained.

    Ooty

Ooty short for Ootacamund or Udhagamandalam is one of South India’s most popular hill stations, situated in the Nilgiri Hills at an altitude of 2,240 mts. Sitting on a high plateau, Ooty is set among the Nilgiris or Blue Mountains, covered with green forests and valleys, tea plantations, streams and mountains. The term Nilgiri came about because of the blue haze which the hills seem to be enveloped in.  Ooty is one of the best places to experience this sight.

The name Oootacamund comes from the Toda word othakal-mund which means “house in the mountains”.

Ooty is a unique attraction that annually draws tourists, trekers, honeymooners and the film industry. The British explored this area in the early 1800 and build a railway into these hills for access.  Prior to that it was an isolated area undiscovered to the great southern dynasties and inhabited by the local tribe called the Toda.

The major crop in the State is tea and South India exported 50 million kg of tea to 30 countries in 1991. Every Jan-Feb there is a local “Tea & Tourism” festival celebrated in the Nilgiri Mountain communities, which attracts tea lovers from around the world.

Visit Ooty to enjoy the festivities.

    Learn a New Language!

    The Pimsleur Language Program

Choose from 40 or more languages and learn quick and easy, learn the way you learned your native language.

The world famous Pimsleur Language Program is now online. With this revolutionary language learning program you can learn the basics of a new language in only days, painlessly and inexpensively.

“You’ll find yourself subconsciously thinking in your new language before you know it. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you begin to understand the words and begin to put sentences together in real conversations.”

This new way to learn a foreign language is based on four principles formulated by Dr. Paul Pimsleur, who devoted his life to language teaching and testing and was one of the world’s leading experts in applied linguistics.

    The four principles are:

    • Principle of Anticipation
    • Graduated Interval Recall
    • Core Vocabulary Acquistion
    • Organic Learning Method

When you study languages the Pimsleur way, you study only 30 minutes per day every day, using specially prepared lessons, and before long you know the basics of a new language.  Try it and see!  For more information click HERE.

Here’s what one student of the Pimsleur method has to say:

“The Pimsleur system is quite simply the best language program I’ve encountered. I’ve tried some of everything, from classroom instruction to flashcards to computer software with pictures, and nothing helped me put the language in context like Pimsleur did. The lessons are short enough to do a little everyday, and interesting enough to repeat.  The words and phrases the system teaches are real and relevant; the speakers on the CDs are natives; and the narrator is encouraging, easy to listen to, and even funny at times.  I have gone through all three levels of Japanese and now feel confident enough to use my new language in my legal practice.  I’ve already ordered all three levels of Pimsleur Spanish!”
